If you are searching for a friend that will always be by your side, a dog that is bright and alert, has a mind of his own, then this might be the breed you seek!

But…

If you can not stand a dog that has the tendency to bark, you should consider another breed. The Iceland dog has a background as a farm dog having the task of keeping the birds away from the lambs. They have a strong herding instinct and use their voice at work, herding sheep and horses. They also alert you if they feel something is wrong, therefore they tend to bark.

If you don’t want a dog that seems to follow you everywhere you go, choose another breed. The Iceland dog is a herder and they like to keep track of their herd all the time. No more lonely days! The Iceland dog will even follow you to the bathroom if you let him.

These dogs will express their opinion of other dogs in a very clear way. This breed has a mind of its own so you so you need to make absolutely clear who is the boss. (The boss is someone who takes initiative, not someone who yells allot or uses physical force.)

• Is a fast learner, love agility and obedience trials?
